For nearly 20 years i’ve been doing what I absolutely love. Considering I’m just 35 this week, this is something I’m extremely proud of. At 16 I was writing my first reviews that took me on a path that has given me the opportunity to work with some of the biggest websites and tech companies in the world. My passion for computers, technology, and just generally geeking out will never fade, however, over the last 10 years I’ve sat back and enjoyed seeing the world of esports grow as a viewer and a fan.
Esports has quickly become a buzz word for many in the space as everyone tries to jump on the hype train with a generally “fake it to you make it” attitude. Esports isn’t a phase for me or tenfold.global. It’s something Chris and I have been enjoying together for years, and something I’ve personally enjoyed for even longer.
I’ve been putting my money where my mouth is for a long time when it comes to esports and gaming online. In more recent years it’s been through subscriptions to streamers or Patreon support to content creators I love, before the birth of Twitch, though, it was paying to watch the latest Major League Gaming (MLG) event out of the United States or keeping track of the Global Starcraft League (GSL) via GOMTV out of South Korea.
If you want to sit down and talk esports, I’ll chew your ear off for hours. While my passion lays in Dota 2 with over 5,000 hours played and countless hours watched, Starcraft 2, CSGO, and more recently League of Legends are all games that I keep a very close eye on. Of course, that doesn’t mean others are ignored. Overwatch, PUBG, Rainbow Six Siege, NBA 2K, and Rocket League are certainly games that we track as we see the different approach publishers and tournament organizers take. With so many different titles, audience types, and publishers, no one esport is the same as the other.
As I sit down and take on the role of Creative Director here at tenfold.global, I get to combine my passion of creating content and campaigns for the industry’s I love! Helping companies standout in a space that is quickly getting saturated, teaching those who have a genuine interest in wanting to enter the esports space, and just generally geeking out talking, meeting, and playing games with people in the space is something I’m so excited about.
This isn’t the last you’ll hear of me. In November we’re in Los Angeles for DOTA Summit 11, PUBG NPL Group Stage, and a quick trip to Las Vegas to visit friends at SEMA. We’re also doing some amazing stuff with the folks at FantasyEsports.gg as they’ve not just upped the ante on Fantasy Esports, but taken it to another stratosphere! In January you’ll also see us at CES with some of our favorite tech companies as we start 2020 strong and work in creating a new standard for having a presence there!
I couldn’t be more excited for what the coming months will bring and I hope you enjoy a look inside the minds of the tenfold.global team as we share our thoughts and experiences with you.
